Activities

The Firemen's Home is proud to host a variety of activities and special events for fire departments and other fire service organizations throughout New York State.

Members participate in a variety of exciting activities, including daily programs and special events.

Members enjoy art classes, pet therapy, gardening, shuffleboard, billiards, karaoke, intergenerational programming and playing cards, to name a few. The renowned FASNY Museum of Firefighting, on the grounds of the Firemen's Home, provides a wonderful opportunity for members to not only enjoy firefighting history, but to volunteer if they desire.

We believe that it is important for the members to be active in both mind and body.

Enjoying the outdoors is a special pastime for our residents. Wonderful views of the Hudson River and Catskill mountains can be seen from our facility…and wild turkey and deer run in our own backyard.

Members also enjoy trips to local restaurants and other area locations as well as to state fire conventions, sectional meetings and ballgames, giving them a wonderful opportunity to stay connected with their peers. And each summer volunteer fire departments from all over the State come to our Home to enjoy softball competitions and special events.

A magnificent in-house domed chapel provides interdenominational services and opportunity for personal prayer.

Cozy lounges, billiards and card rooms all help to maintain the members firefighting lifestyle and computers are available for residents to e-mail family and friends.
